Lately God has really been dealing with me about my anger. I don't have serious problems with anger, but I do have a tenancy to let petty little details about the circumstances of the day bother me. This anger causes me to snap at people I really care about.
God has brought people into my life that have revealed that this anger arises when I am unable to control every detail about the situation in which I am currently living. I have to learn how to let that go and be comfortable with other people controlling things.
The Holy Spirit revealed to me that the solution is to let God take complete control of my life. I found some interesting verses on control in Romans:
Romans 8:6-9
6 So letting your sinfulnature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit controlyour mind leads to life and peace. 7 For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. 8 That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God. 9 But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you.
In other words, if I let God in on every situation in my life, I will have peace instead of anger. Ephesians gives more great insight on anger:
Ephesians 4:25-27
25 So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same body. 26 And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil.
Does anyone know any other good verses letting God control your life instead of circumstances?
